Amazon.com Twenty years after her landmark Watermark album, Enya's seventh studio disc, And Winter Came continues a phenomenally successful career that has included more than 70 million albums sold worldwide. And Winter Came is an enchanting evocation of the changing landscape of winter as well as the festive cheer of the holidays. One of the most successful female artists of all-time, and second only to U2 as the biggest selling Irish artist in history, Enya brings her beguiling and ethereal music to bear on the darkest and yet most hopeful season with And Winter Came.
Album Description 2008 release from the acclaimed Irish singer/songwriter, one of the world's biggest selling female solo artists (over 70 million). Once again the result of Enya's longstanding creative triumvirate alongside producer Nicky Ryan and lyricist Roma Ryan, And Winter Came was originally envisioned as a Christmas-themed album. As recording progressed, it became apparent that a broader seasonal theme had emerged; beguiling songs such 'Trains and Winter Rains' sit comfortably alongside the festive 'Journey of the Angels' and other touching musical moments. 12 tracks total including an updated version of her holiday best seller 'Silent Night (Oiche Chuin)'.

Great service August 18, 2010 D. Tibbetts (Minnesota) I wasn't pleased with the condition of the plastic cover of the CD. The folks at Z Overstocks were sincerely interested in my complaint, and took helpful action. :-)
The music on this CD is Heavenly!
Great first full album of seasonal songs from Enya August 11, 2010 Wendell Geary I've been an Enya fan since the late eighties (first came to my attention with Orinoco Flow, as with many). Found her first two LP's, on vinyl, in a record store in Minneapolis, on an evening when we had dinner with good friends (Mongolian cuisine). A great time, and good art to go with it. Have collected her ouvre since, and will likely continue to do so. Enya has a consistent sound and great style. Love her creativity and artistic heart.
Christmas music with a new feel by Enya April 29, 2010 Lance D. Yorgason (Pueblo, CO. USA) I have always been a real fan of Enya's music ever since she came out with "Watermark" in the late '80s. I have also liked "Amarantine", "In Memory of Trees" and "Days Without Rain". I have been looking for more of Enya's music and did a search on Amazon to see what newer albums she may have produced. I was intrigued to find an album by Enya that had Christmas music. The cover jacket of "And Winter Came" caught my eye, a captivating winter scene, so I suspected that there might be Christmas music on the album. I listened to the samples and ordered the CD to see what I thought and was very pleasantly surprized. The first track, "And Winter Came", is a beautiful combination of instrumental piano, strings and ethereal vocals which I found very soothing and peaceful. "Journey of the Angels" is a beautifully sung composition with Enya as the lead singer in the song. There is also a very calming and relaxing vocal and instrumental back-up accompanying Enya's vocal lead in "Journey of the Angels". "Trains and Winter Rains" has an upbeat feel with vocals, low strings and percussion and is one of my favorite tracks. Enya adds an interesting twist to a traditional Christmas favorite, "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel", by singing parts of the song in English and also in what I believe might be Gaelic. I would have to say that one thing I have always liked about Enya's style is her beautiful and soothing voice. The lyrics in her songs have such a clarity and beauty to them.
Probably my favorite song on this CD is "The Spirit of Christmas Past" which is a gorgeous Christmas song. It has a slower-paced, very beautiful and melodious vocal lead by Enya and is accompanied by back-up vocals and low strings. The words are uplifting and soothing and when I hear them, I picture looking out my window on Christmas morning and seeing snow gently falling.
The last track on this CD is "Oiche Chiuin" which to me, is a beautiful arrangement of the Christmas classic, "Silent Night" melody sung in what I believe might be Gaelic. Im not sure about the language but I think its Gaelic since Enya sings in both English and Gaelic. I think Gaelic is an old Irish language. This classic song is sung with such the ethereal beauty of this foreign language. Even though I do not understand the words when Enya's music is sung in Gaelic, I definitely can capture the serene, soothing beauty of these songs which is so relaxing and calming to my mind and spirit. I just bought the album a little while ago and even though the Christmas Season is over, this is music I could listen to year-round. In my opinion, this CD is a must-have for every Enya fan.
Lovely April 14, 2010 Ariella Vaccarino- creator of Voice Lessons To Go (Los Angeles) From the first notes of the cd, you know you are in Enya. What a great thing to have another Enya CD to add to my collection. This music just makes you feel so good.Voice Lessons To Go v.1-4 The Complete Set
Another fine Enya album April 7, 2010 S. G. Neff (Anchorage, AK USA) Eagerly awaited most recent Enya album and I was not disappointed. The only problem was, I had purchased the same album at Borders about two months earlier and had never opened (when i had pneumonia) and had forgotten. Now I have two of these CDs. lol
Not to worry - now I have one for the car. It's interesting to see how she has progressed through the years - her music is more mature now and I never cease to be amazed at the intricacies of her harmony as she lays down multiple tracks one after the other. Astounding.
